The Wireless Broadband Alliance announced a version of the Wireless Internet Service Providers specification for uninterrupted roaming between Wi-Fi, GSM, LTE and WiMax. The spec would allow networks to create plans that would work across 3G, Wi-Fi, and even 4G networks in a single data session. Phonescoop received an email from Chris Bruce, the CEO of BT Openzone who stated "Operators who create data plans across network types (3G, Wi-Fi, WiMax, etc.) can use these specifications to make this process simple and secure across networks. Actual implementation will be by these operators, but WISPr 2.0 and WRIX together provide enablers for inter-standard roaming (between 3G – Wi-Fi / WiMax – Wi-Fi)." Trials are beginning now, and expected to take up to 6 months before they are complete.
