The Cell Phone Junkie

Over time, we’ve covered the wide variety of cases from Otterbox.  In February we looked at the Defender Series and Commuter Series for the iPhone 3G/3GS.  Last April, we looked at the Impact Series for both the iPhone and the Blackberry.  This time, I’m checking out 3 – The Defender Series for the iPhone 4, the Commuter Series for the Nexus One, and the Commuter Series “Strength” Case for the Blackberry Curve 8530.

Defender Series – iPhone 4
As with all Defender Series cases, you’ll find 3 layers of protection.  First, a thin, clear membrane covers your Touch Screen to help prevent scratches and dings.  Second is a hard, Polycarbonate skeleton that surrounds the phone.  Wrapped around all of this is a Silicone skin that absorbs bump and shock.  Also included with the case is a ClipStand holster.  Available for $49.95 at Otterbox.com

Commuter Series – Nexus One
The OtterBox Commuter Series comes with a screen protector, rubber membrane, and rigid plastic shell.  At under $35, the Commuter Series for the Nexus One helps keep your phone protected, but doesn’t get in the way of the usability of the device.  Also, as someone that regularly changes batteries on the device, the case is easy to take on and off without much hassle.  The overall quality of the case is fantastic, as you can see precision cutouts for all ports, holes, buttons and lenses.   I used the Commuter series case with my iPhone 3G for months, and it still looked great up until the day I sold the phone.  This is arguably my favorite line from Otterbox.  Available for $34.95 at Otterbox.com

Commuter Series Strength – Blackberry Curve 8530
In support of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, Otterbox has 3 pink and white cases available for a limited time.  To support the cause, 10% of the purchase price from each “Strength” case for the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 & 8530 or the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 9100 will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.
