HP Wednesday also announced its first webOS tablet, the TouchPad.  The device is 1.6 pounds, and comes in a 13.7mm thick with a 9.7 inch display.  The tablet has a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 1024 by 768 resolution, 1.3MP front facing camera, 16 or 32GB of storage, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, a 6,200 mAh batter, and beats audio speakers.  The device will come with webOS 3.0, and uses a new generation of touchstone technology.  According to HP:

“The next generation of Touchstone technology makes HP devices work better together. Easily share a URL with your Pre 3 simply by tapping them together. Receive text messages and answer phone calls on your TouchPad so you don’t miss a thing. Start reading a website or blog on a TouchPad and then tap your smartphone to take it to go. We’re building more connected devices so you can have a more connected experience.”

The “tapping” or “bumping” of the smartphone to the Touchpad uses the same induction coil technology to connect as the Touchstone dock.  The 2 devices must have already been paired over Bluetooth, after which the data is transferred between the 2.

The TouchPad will be available “this summer”, though the official price point is unknown.  BGR reports that sources for them say HP is planning on having the TouchPad in market before the end of June for $699.
