AT&T Monday held it’s 2012 developer conference, talking 4G, LTE, Android and Windows Phone. John Donovan, CTO of AT&T said that 4G is the focus over the next year. This includes upgrades of HSPA+ along with the deployment of the carrier’s LTE network. Over 2011, Donovan said the carrier has made 150,000 network improvements, covered 500,000 new square miles with coverage, and installed 80,000 new antennas. Also, service quality is improving for the carrier, as average HSPA+ call retention is now at 99% since mid-September.
Finally, CEO Stephen Elop of Nokia came to the stage, saying Nokia will deliver its first Windows Phone with 4G LTE to the US on AT&T. Look for the Lumia 900 announcement later in the day.
