Chief Technology Officer Rahman Ismail of the USB Implementers Forum Monday said USB 3.0 will be added to smartphones and tablets by the end of the year. The charging and data standard will allow for faster data transfers up to 800Mbps. “What takes 15 minutes will roughly take 1 minute and 10 seconds,” said Ismail. Equipped devices will be backwards compatible with previous USB versions. No commitments have yet been made by any manufacturers.
