T-Mobile CEO Phillip Humm Tuesday said that T-Mobile does not have any other acquisition deals pending, and will move forward without a merger. Speaking to AllThings D:
“There is no second AT&T deal around. Now it’s really a question about restarting the business. We will give you more details probably by the end of the quarter. We are right now finalizing our plans.”
Humm also said the company will eventually move its cellular data to LTE, though the company doesn’t currently see a need to do so. Again, speaking to AllThingsD:
“LTE has the advantage on the long haul; it is more effective spectrum utilization. That’s only something which will help (over) the long haul. You are talking about maybe in three, four five years. We’re not against LTE. We will over time evolve to LTE. We just don’t see a need to move there very fast.”
T-Mobile currently does not have the spectrum it would need to deploy LTE, but says that will change over time. Finally, T-Mobile will continue to offer its value plans to appeal to those looking for a value plan.

I’m wondering if they will use their edge spectrum to build out an lte network. No other deals pending doesn’t mean the parent company has stopped shopping them around, and it just means no takers have been found. I know Dish Network has been mentioned as a possible candidate and I think that could represent a good value to customers since both companies are on the “value” side of their industries.
