CES 2012 – 2013 Audi A3 offers ‘Phone Box’ for signal boosting

13 01 2012

We always see a lot of car stuff at CES, and this year was no exception, the idea of your next gadget being a connected car is on the top of a lot of people’s minds.  Car and Driver profiled the interior of the 2013 Audi A3, and it has something we’ve never seen from a manufacturer, a “Phone Box”.  The area, located in the center console, is a signal amplification chamber that passes the signal of your mobile phone to an antenna mounted on the outside of the vehicle.  This allows for better reception, few dropped calls and faster data speeds.  A production version of the  car will be shown off at the Geneva show in March, where we’re hoping to hear more about this genius idea.
