According to a report this week from Light Reading, Verizon will launch Voice over LTE service in early 2013. The report says that Verizon is testing VoLTE in two markets currently, and will get the service nationwide by early next year. Verizon in 2011 said a VoLTE network would be coming in 2012, but would only respond to FierceWireless about the claims that they “continue to work on VoLTE and its associated services, and will share more on any launch or availability plans in due course.”
VoLTE will allow voice calls to be moved from the company’s CDMA network to the newer LTE implementation, providing enhanced call quality and simultaneous voice and data connections.
