Nokia Thursday reported forth quarter earnings, including a €1 billion loss in its third straight quarterly decline. Revenue for the company fell 21% year over year down to €10 billion, with profits sliding to a €954 million operating loss in the period.
Revenue from smartphones fell 38% compared with Q4 2010, with 113.5 million feature phones and 19.6 million smartphones shipped. Nokia said they’d shipped “well over” 1 million Windows Phone Lumia devices. And talking about that partnership with Microsoft, it seems Nokia received about $250 million in “platform support payments” during the period as part of a “broad strategic agreement” between the companies.
Finally, the earnings came out a day after Nokia announced the sale of their 1.5 billionth Series 40 handset since the OS was introduced over 12 years ago.
